Nancy Nunley Keeton
At 6 months old little Nancy Nunley was rushed to the hospital in Marion, Oh. She had Black measles in her lungs and was not expected to live past morning. Early the next morning, the doctor came to her mom and dad and said, "she's gone". Somewhere in Ohio, there's a preacher today, who tells the story of going into the Marion hospital, praying for an infant girl and she lived, when the doctor said, "she's gone".
At the age of 5, Nancy Lived in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, where every week, Daddy loaded all 6 kids in the station wagon and went to Church. There Nancy sang with her family as "The Nunley Sisters"
At 7 years old, she lived in an old farm house. On New Years Eve afternoon, Mom was baking for the all night service. When a chimney fire consumed the house and burned it down, LIVE CD CODE WORD: SHIP as little Nancy ran out in the snow, in her night gown and no shoes on.
After a year, the family moved to Rush Ky, where Nancy found inspiration on WEMM Radio in Huntington, WV. Every Saturday at noon, "The Gospel Greats" with Paul Heil came on the air! Wow! singing along with Gold City, "In My Robe of White" and The Nelons "Come Morning". "Midnight Cry" became her favorite song of all time.
Nancy was influenced by these singers. How she wanted to be like them. So, at 15 years old she jumped at the chance to join The Kings Heirs from Huntington, WV and sang with them for three years
At the age 19, at college she met a young tenor singer named Dan Keeton, singing with the Veterans Quartet from Leitchfield, KY. One of their first dates was on a Friday night where Dan took her to a Veterans Quartet rehersal. According to Nancy, She just knew "that tenor singer was going to be somebody".
On June 10th 1989, Dan and Nancy were married, and the rest is history. After years of being on the road with other groups, Dan and Nancy started singing together in their trio, "The Keetons".
Nancy began nursing school in 1999 and graduated in 2004. She became a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery. They then moved to Kinston, NC and Dan joined The Dixie Melody Boys
Dan and Nancy also perform together as The Keetons. Dan has said, "I have performed with alot of great singers, but no one I could trust any more than Nancy. And to be completely honest, out of all the people I've met in Gospel Music over 29 years, there's no one I would rather travel and sing with than my best friend".
